Nine hundred hours on a glorious sunny winter morning and already, the recruits under Royal Marine PT instructor Jon Stratford have completed a gruelling uphill run and "military circuit".
Following on from a health-juice breakfast quite as green as they are, the candidates - who rose at 0545 hrs - are now mustering up their strength for a four-mile yomp along the spectacular coastline between Seaton and Beer.
For some, it is an opportunity to lose several pounds, for others, to kick-start a regime that includes more exercise.
"People tend to find that if they manage eight hours a day here, it is easier to find that one hour you didn't think you could fit into your day." Says Jon Stratford, Head PTI for Ultimate Boot Camp. "We could write them off in five minutes, but that wouldn't achieve anything. The biggest factor in the course is education, learning to exercise and eat sensibly, so it fits in with your life."
It is a business that has been established on the brink of recessions, but the partners are confident that Ultimate Boot Camp has the stamina to stay the distance. In enterprise, as in exercisem what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger.
