Ultimate Boot Camp Inspiration
30 November 2009
Former Ultimate Boot Camp recruit, Gill Driscoll from Surrey, recently completed the gruelling Great Ethiopian Run this month. A challenging 10km at 10,000 feet above sea level – an altitude that would certainly test the physical condition of most people. Running for ORBIS International, a non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate avoidable blindness in developing countries. ORBIS have helped 6.8 million people receive eye health treatment and more than 195,000 people have received eye health care training around the world.
Gill joined 33,000 runners who took part in the event with only 250 participants from outside of Africa. Gill’s team raised a staggering €160,000 for the charity and completed the hot and dusty run in a very impressive 1hr 10min 05secs.
Gill attended Ultimate Boot Camp in August 2009 in Herefordshire. “I really needed to call on the confidence I got from UBC to keep going when breathing was hard.”
Everyone at UBC would like to congratulate Gill in her amazing achievement and look forward to hearing about her next challenge….
