Questions Answers
Who comes on UBC boot camps? The men & women who come to UBC do so for a variety of reasons - to improve their fitness, to lose weight, or simply to challenge themselves to the max. Whatever your reason for coming to a camp, the UBC team will ensure that you get the most out of your experience.
What do I need to bring with me? When you book you will be sent a kit list of everything you need to bring. This list varies depending on the time of year. We supply all exercise equipment, you provide the enthusiasm and vigour!
How many recruits attend each camp? We take a maximum of 21 in Devon and only 11 in Herefordshire, we can take more but it gets too cramped so we keep numbers down for your comfort.
Am I fit enough? UBC is for men and women of all sizes and fitness levels. You will be encouraged to work to your personal maximum limits, so you will not be struggling to keep up with the fittest or held back by others.
Is our fitness assessed when we arrive? Yes, but please don't worry about this. You will be assessed by the trainers at the beginning and end of the week to measure your progress against your own personal goals.
Who will be training us? You will be taken through your paces by the very best in the business, former Royal Marine PTIs. These guys are supportive and will work you to your maximum ability - motivating, but never intimidating, you.
What does PTI mean? Physical Training Instructor.
Will the nutritionist be on site? There will be nutritionist on site during the week-long camps to advise on healthy eating, and also to work with you to devise your personal nutrition goals for when you leave UBC.
Will I feel hungry? Because of the controlled portion sizes and the amount of food most people consume excessively, it can take a few days for your body to adjust. However, you will be provided with a carefully designed, delicious and nutritious diet which is specifically tailored for the amount of exercise you will be completing in the day. All the food is quality, fresh, free range, organic and locally sourced where possible.
What is the accommodation like? The accommodations are carefully chosen. We only use 5 star graded properties in beautiful rural locations to ensure that after a hard day's training you can relax in comfort.
Who will I share with if I am coming on my own? We have single and double occupancy rooms. The majority of our clients share with fellow recruits whom they have not met before, and many form good friendships during their stay.
How much weight will I lose in the week?

How much weight do you want to lose? Recruits looking to lose weight lose an average 7lbs over a week. This obviously varies as to how hard you work at camp! This may not sound as impressive as other boot camps, but this is because your body will be burning fat and increasing muscle (which weighs more than fat). This way, your body will become more toned and clothes will fit better. We don't subscribe to the "drop a dress size" in a week mentality. If we did we could make you lose a vast amount of weight through water loss rather than fat burning but then regain it after you leave. Some other boot camps even incentivise their staff to get huge weight and inch loss results, by any means possibl!. These tactics involve removing certain food groups and reducing calorie intakes to as little as 800 per day! UBC believe this to be extremely unhealthy and certainly unsustainable.

What happens when I leave? Although you will see fantastic improvements to your fitness, strength, body shape and weight during your week, UBC isn't just a quick-fix, drop-a-dress size approach. When you leave camp you will be given training and nutrition plans, as well as a log-in for our unique Members' Area on the website. Here you can search for recipes, nutritional information, exercise plans and other helpful resources. You will also have direct access to the UBC fitness and nutrition teams who are always on hand for help and advice.
